Student Scholarships

The School of Business and Economics celebrates student sucess to recognize leaders and high-achievers. The list below defines each scholarship available to students within the School as well as the criteria to qualify. Each year faculty members on the Scholarship Committee vote on who receives scholarships out of a pool of applicants. Scholarship opportunities are announced in business and economics classes each academic year and are open to students from the School based on their eligibility and award criteria. Beta Gamma Sigma National Scholarship The criteria are GPA, Honors and Activities, Work Experience, and Community Service Activities. The selection process also includes a recommendation from a faculty member, outlining the applicant's specific strengths, academic performance, and potential leadership skills. Richard C. Chandler Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is awarded based on outstanding academic achievement for an Economics student who pays out of state tuition.	2012-13 Tyler Hass
Dean Clyde T. Hardwick Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a junior majoring in Business/Management with a minimum GPA of at least 2.5.	2012-13 Michael Morrison
Dorothy M. Johnson Memorial Accounting Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate with senior status majoring in Accounting.	2012-13 Aaron Henriksen
Eino Reini Memorial Endowed Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students in the School of Business and Economics with a minimum GPA of 2.5, focusing in Accounting. Preference is given in the following order: 1) Resident of Ironwood, MI; 2) Resident of Hancock, MI; 3) Resident from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.	2012-13 Jeni Hammerstrom – Hancock, Judy Isaacson - Mohawk
Ross Roeder Endowed Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to students in the School of Business and Economics with demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurial skills. The scholarship may be awarded on a renewable basis, provided the recipient maintains a minimum GPA of 2.5 for each academic year at Michigan Tech.	2012-13 Rhonda Heusinkveld and Brianna Pennala
Andrew Marshall and Janis R. Forsberg Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students in the School of Business and Economics. First preference will be given to students majoring in Business with a concentration in Industrial Marketing and Management and a minimum GPA of 2.5.	2012-13 Jesse Linebarger and Kathryn Danielson
James and Dolores Trethewey Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the School of Business and Economics earning a grade point average of 2.5 or greater, who attended Luther L. Wright High School or Gogebic Community College.	2012-13 Allyssa Loven
Superior National Bank Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a resident of Houghton, Keweenaw, or Baraga Counties who is enrolled in the School of Business and Economics, has attained sophomore or higher class standing earning a GPA of at least 2.5.	2012-13 Judy Isaacson
Joyce & Richard Ten Haken Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to freshmen students who have demonstrated high academic achievement in high school and major in the School of Business and Economics. The scholarship may be awarded on a renewable basis, provided the recipient maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0 for each academic year at Michigan Tech.	2012-13 Joy Kinnunen and Kathryn Danielson
Wells Fargo Bank Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a School of Business and Economics student who is a resident of Houghton, Keweenaw, Ontonagon, or Baraga County and has attained sophomore status and a GPA of at least 2.5.	2012-13 Jeni Hammerstrom and Sandra Freeman
Upper Peninsula Power Company Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students in the School of Business and Economics, with a preference being given to residents of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The scholarship may be awarded on a renewable basis provided the recipient maintains a GPA of at least 2.5 for each academic year at Michigan Tech.	2012-13 Rhea-Ann Moses

School of Business and Economics Leadership Endowed Established by alumni and friends of the Alpha Chapter of the Sigma Rho Fraternity, the School of Business and Economics Leadership Endowed Scholarship was created to support students who have demonstrated leadership capabilities while serving their communities, state, nation, high school, Michigan Technological University, the School of Business and Economics, or student organizations within the University.	2012-13 Lynnlee Grangroth and Kaila Pietila

Departmental Scholar This award is given to a senior who best represents student scholarship at Michigan Tech. This outstanding student is considered excellent not only by academic standards, but also for participation in research scholarship activity, levels of intellectual curiosity, creativity, and communication skills.	2012-13 Nathan Sturos
McNair Parker Endowed Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Economics. The scholarship may be awarded on a renewable basis for up to four academic years, provided the recipient maintains a minimum GPA of 2.5.	2012-13 Tyler Hass
Kelly Ann Long Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate who has demonstrated high academic achievement within the school.	2012-13 Aaron Schroeder
Donald W. Seaton Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to a student in the School of Business and Economics that shows above average capabilities and leadership. Marvin L. Isles Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students in the School of Business and Economics with a GPA of 2.5.	2012-13 Allison Gleiss
Citizens Bank Scholarship This scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students majoring in the School of Business and Economics with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference should be given in the following order: 1) students from Houghton/Keweenaw area; 2) students from the Western Upper Peninsula; 3) students from the Upper Peninsula; 4) students from the State of Michigan.	2012-13 Lindsee Willis
