Michigan Tech is dedicated to working with students who have taken, or will take, college classes at other institutions. We accept transfer applications year-round, transfer credit is available for classes taken at other institutions (with a grade of “C” or better), and transfer guides for many community colleges are available online.
You’ll need to submit an application for admission and official copies of all college transcripts (sent directly to Michigan Tech from each school). You will also need to have your high school send us an official copy of your high school transcript, unless you have earned an associate degree or higher at time of application.
Additional application materials are required for students applying for admission into the following degree programs: Audio Production and Technology, Sound Design, Theatre and Electronic Media Performance, and Theatre and Entertainment Technology.
Transfer students planning to enroll for the summer or fall semesters are encouraged to apply by January 15 to receive priority consideration for admission, financial aid, and scholarships. Applicants for the spring semester should apply as early as possible and at least 30 days before the start of the semester.
If you have international college or high school transcripts, you should apply at least 60 days before the start of the semester. International transfer students should work with the office of International Programs and Services to complete the application process.
Admission requirements vary by academic program. As a transfer student, your transfer GPA is most important, but we'll also review your transcripts to see the courses you've taken and the grades you received. Please contact us at 888-688-1885 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about the admission process for transfer students.
