The Michigan Tech Aerospace Engineering Research Center (MARC) serves as the university's focal point for aerospace research and education, translating innovative ideas into real-world impact through its work on projects such as lunar roads, advanced propulsion, and next-generation composite materials.
To establish Michigan Tech as a leader in aerospace engineering research.Mission
MARC will serve as a home for all aerospace engineering-related activities, and will work across university units in support of these activities. These activities include:
- MARC leadership team meeting: The MARC leadership team will meet as needed to discuss resources, proposal opportunities, and technical issues.
- Student team support: MARC will provide support (technical guidance, resources if available) to aerospace engineering-related student teams. Examples of these student groups include the Aerospace Enterprise, Mining Innovation Enterprise, and the SAE Aero team.
- Research support: MARC will provide resource support (when available) to aerospace engineering-related research projects on campus, particularly those that are supervised by institute members.
Goals
- Drive Innovation in Aerospace Research - Lead transformative research that advances knowledge and technology in aerospace systems, materials, and design.
- Strengthen Research Collaboration and Infrastructure - Build an integrated environment that connects faculty expertise, shared facilities, and interdisciplinary teams to enable world-class aerospace research.
- Elevate Aerospace Education and Mentorship - Enrich student learning through hands-on research experiences, mentoring, and training that prepare graduates to contribute to the future of aerospace engineering.
