5 IT Governance Commitments and Responsibilities

IT governance is the responsibility of Executive Management and consists of the leadership, organizational structures, and processes to ensure that the University’s information technology sustains and extends Michigan Tech’s strategies and objectives.

Executive Management has established the overall approach to governance and control by forming the Information Security Board of Review (ISBR) to provide strategic direction, ensure objectives are achieved, ascertain risks are managed appropriately, and verify that the University’s resources are used responsibly.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) shows its commitment by developing and implementing good internal controls as well as ensuring the promotion and awareness of IT requirements and plans throughout the University. Michigan Tech’s strategic vision is linked with the IT departments’ goals and objectives, ultimately assuring that the University meets customer and legal requirements while undergoing continual improvement.
