Team Resources
Access to Design and Construction Tools
Students who need access to tools and systems (e.g., machining, welding, soldering, etc.) to implement projects should contact their home department (i.e., department of your major) for options. Although several machine shops are available across campus, there is no single location where all students can work with complex equipment. Teams with labs in spaces adjacent to Machine Shops (e.g., the M&M Building Shop on the first floor) should speak directly to the shop manager to get access to safety and operations training on the equipment.
Teams may consider other resources as well, such as the Alley Makerspace (link) and Plexus Innovation Lab (link), which are open to all students after training. If you aren’t sure how to find the right type of shop or lab access to solve your problem, please contact the Enterprise Office for guidance.
Enterprise Conference Rooms
The Enterprise Office manages two conference rooms located on the seventh floor of the Minerals and Materials Building in rooms 718A and 718B. Room 718A is a large conference room designed to be a flexible meeting space for teams to hold meetings, present to on-campus sponsors and faculty, and communicate with off-campus stakeholders. Room 718B is a smaller collaboration space designed for Enterprise sub-teams to hold meetings and communicate with off-campus stakeholders. Both rooms have a networked computer, a teleconferencing system, a webcam, an LED screen, and a whiteboard. If you have any issues with the technology in either room, please refer to the troubleshooting guide or speak to someone in the Enterprise Office (Room 722).
These conference rooms are available to any student enrolled in the Enterprise Program and can be reserved using Google Calendar. When creating an event in Google Calendar on a desktop computer, you have the option of adding 'Rooms', which is next to 'Guests' on the right-hand side of the screen when editing the event. Click on 'Rooms' and scroll down to MM. Click on the arrow to expand the different reservable rooms in the M&M Bldg. You may add 718A or 718B, depending on your Enterprise team meeting needs. Checking the 'Show available rooms only' box will allow you to add the room only when it is available. The Enterprise Program and Pavlis Honors College reserve the right to deny any reservation request due to scheduling conflicts that may arise. If you have any questions regarding these spaces, please contact us by emailing enterprise@mtu.edu.
Enterprise Design Studio - Minerals and Materials Bldg. 614
M&M 614 is a flexible project, collaboration, and computing space made available to students through the Enterprise Program. The room includes networked computers, whiteboards, movable tables and stools, drop-down electrical outlets, and storage cabinets/shelving.
M&M 614 is made available to a finite number of Enterprise teams and students engaged in projects by request only. Teams may use the computers in the room as well as perform light assembly work on projects. If you would like to request access to 614, please contact us by emailing enterprise@mtu.edu.
