Instrument Details
The PELCO easyGlow Glow Discharger is a specialized laboratory instrument used primarily to modify the surface properties of Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) grids and support films. It works by generating a plasma (glow discharge) under vacuum, which removes adsorbed hydrocarbons and changes the surface chemistry. This process is most commonly used to make the typically hydrophobic carbon support films hydrophilic (water-attracting), which allows aqueous samples to spread evenly for high-quality TEM or Cryo-EM imaging. The compact, microprocessor-controlled system offers both automated and manual control for precise and consistent results.
