Students might want to use a figure from a journal, book, webpage, or another student's thesis or dissertation in their written work. All of this material is protected by US Copyright Law and needs to be used appropriately in order to avoid copyright infringement.
If students want to reuse materials from their published journal articles, these materials are also protected by US Copyright Law and need to be used appropriately in order to avoid copyright infringement. Students should consult the copyright transfer agreement between themselves and the publisher to determine what rights they have retained to reuse published materials.
