Biography

Kette Thomas is Associate Professor of Diversity and Literature in the Humanities Department at Michigan Technological University. She earned her PhD in Comparative Literature at Stony Brook University. Her work examines alterity in cultural and media texts (e.g., television, cinema) related to myth and folklore, with an emphasis on oral transmission of knowledge. She has published in numerous journals and is currently working on projects focused on immigration, systemic violence, and diverse forms of compromised subjectivity. Stories of lived experience, collective or individual, dominate her research agenda.
