Walk-In/Drop-In Hours

Our walk-in/drop-in hours are:

  • Sunday: 7–9 p.m.
  • Monday: 1–5 p.m. and 7–9 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 12-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 1–5 p.m. and 7–9 p.m.
  • Thursday: 12-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
  • Friday: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Appointments

One-on-One Appointments

One-on-one appointments between students and physics coaches offer individualized instruction in physics problem solving and general study skills. Students can sign up for up to two half-hour appointments each week. Assignments to specific coaches are made on a first come, first served basis.

What We Do

The Physics Learning Center is a resource for all physics students. It is a comfortable learning environment where problem-solving and study skills are emphasized through peer-to-peer coaching. Successful student coaches, who receive continual training for professional development, staff the center. Coaching is available on a walk-in basis for students in introductory physics courses beginning the second week of the semester. Weekly individual appointments and study-group sessions are also available by walk in and sign up.

Become a Coach

Tomorrow needs students who have a passion for helping others. Becoming a Physics Learning Center Coach requires commitment and a desire to provide direction and support to physics students as they strive for academic success. 

Preference in hiring is given to:

  • Undergraduate students at Michigan Tech
  • Students with excellent communication skills
  • Individuals with an excellent background in physics and math; applicants must have completed PH2100 or PH1160 and PH2200 or PH2260
  • Undergraduate students with significant time remaining before graduation
  • Individuals with previous teaching or coaching experience
