Adjunct Professor, Biological Sciences, Cognitive and Learning Sciences
Expert in: Physiology, Sleep Disorders
Sleep is good for your heart and Carter is figuring out exactly why that is. The answer is not as straightforward as a full night’s rest, especially for people with sleep disorders. Using microneurography and other cutting edge techniques in partnership with the University of Chicago, Carter looks at the impacts of these disorders and disrupted circadian rhythms on blood pressure and heart health. As chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology, he encourages interdisciplinary collaborations to better understand heart health, community development and fitness in a range of fields.
