BS 1964, MS Metallurgical Engineering 1969, PhD MSE 1973
Graduated in 1964 from Seoul National University with B.S. degree, received MS in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Washington in 1969, and PhD in Materials Science & Engineering from Stanford University in 1973. Became Postdoc at Michigan Tech from 1973 – 1975, and Visiting Assistant Professor in 1975-76. Continued in academia at Michigan Tech, becoming Professor of Materials Science and Engineering in 1984.
Fellow of ASM International, the Korean Academy of Science & Technology, and the National Academy of Engineering of Korea. Retired in December 2007 and was granted emeritus status in the spring of 2008. He and his wife, Sangja, reside in Houghton and enjoy traveling to see their children and grandchildren.
