Graduate School Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for admission to the Graduate School as a regular student, the applicant must be:
- the recipient of a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution (graduates of a 3-year bachelor's program outside the US see the Master's Path option);
- adequately prepared for advanced study in the chosen field of specialization as demonstrated by the previous program of study and the scholastic record; and
- recommended for admission by the head of the program or concentration.
Graduate School Admission Requirements
In addition, all students must submit to the Graduate School:
- Official transcripts
- Two letters of recommendations (Form)
- Statement of purpose (What is it?)
Your statement of purpose should:
- Demonstrate your passion for and knowledge of your intended plan of study using the language of the field
- Articulate how a graduate degree will help you achieve your future career and research goals
- Describe your research, enterprise, professional, publication, and/or presentation experience

International Student-Visa Requirement
Applicants whose native language is not English must supply results of an English proficiency examination. Usually, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is submitted.

An I-20 will be authorized by Michigan Tech once the application is approved and certification of finances form and supporting documents are submitted.
Application Fee
There is no cost to apply to the Graduate School whether you choose to complete an online or paper application.
Additional Program Requirements
Programs may require additional material be submitted to the Graduate School.
Admissions Tests
The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is required or encouraged by most graduate programs.
The GMAT is required for admission into programs of the School of Business and Economics.

Deadlines
It is recommended by the Graduate School that you apply at least a semester in advance of your projected admission to improve your chances of receiving funding. See program pages for individual program deadlines.
