Biography

Dr. Aurenice Oliveira joined Michigan Technological University in spring 2007. She received the BSc degree in electrical engineering from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Brazil in 1995, the MSc degree in electrical engineering from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil in 1998, and the PhD degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2005.

Before joining Michigan Tech, Dr. Oliveira was adjunct faculty in the Department of Electrical Engineering at North Dakota State University and in Department of Mathematics at Minnesota State University—Moorhead. Her current research interests include vehicular communications, hybrid communications and networking, application of Monte Carlo methods to communication systems, digital signal processing, RF/wireless communications, and engineering education. She has authored or coauthored eighteen archival journal papers and forty-three conference papers.

Dr. Aurenice Oliveira is a Senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Photonics, IEEE Women in Engineering Society, and of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). She received the Venice Summer School on Polarization Mode Dispersion Award in 2003. In 1996 and 1998, she was awarded graduate scholarships from the Brazilian Ministry of Education (CAPES) and from the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology (CNPq), respectively. Dr. Oliveira serves as reviewer for several Journals and Conferences.
