Meet the Transfer Assistant
Transfer Assistants are current Michigan Tech transfer students who are trained to provide peer support, answer questions, plan networking events, and more. They can be great resources for information, campus news, and friendship—take a minute and get to know our current Transfer Assistant.
Hometown: Summit Lake, Wisconsin
Major: Medical Laboratory Science
Campus Involvement: Orientation Team Leader, Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity Secretary, Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists Secretary, undergraduate research in Dr. Werner's Lab, Summer Youth Programs Instructor, Social Dance Club member, former Douglass Houghton Hall Council Head Social Representative, former Inter-Residence Hall Council representative, former Society of Women Engineers member
Why you chose Tech: I loved the small campus and all of the outdoor activities that the Houghton area has to offer, like the Tech trails for hiking and exploring.
What does your future hold: I plan on graduating from Tech and completing a CLS practicum at a hospital. From there, I plan on working in a hospital lab diagnosing patients with cancer and other illnesses based on tests on both cells and blood.
Advice for transfer students: College is all about balance. It's important to study, but it's also important to take breaks and have a social life. Get involved with one of the many student organizations on campus. It's a great way to meet new people who enjoy similar interests.
