Statistical Genetics—Research

Statistical genetics is the use of statistical methods to find the genetic basis for complex diseases. Michigan Tech faculty have analyzed data sets related to such diseases as Type II Diabetes, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Because of the size of the human genome, identifying specific genes that contribute to a disease requires extensive computational power.
