Family Weekend Welcome Center
FAMILY WEEKEND SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
When you arrive on campus, be sure to stop by the Family Weekend Welcome Center at the Student Development Complex (SDC) where you can pick up a complete schedule of events, local area information and pre-ordered tickets. The Welcome Center will have staff available to answer any questions you may have on the following days:
Thursday, October 10: 5:00-7:00PM
Friday, October 11: 2:00-6:00PM
Saturday, October 12: 10:00AM-12:00PM
For your convenience, you may also stop by while the ticket office is open, Thursday and Friday from 8:00AM-9:00PM and Saturday from 8:00AM-7:00PM.
Tickets for Family Weekend events can be purchased online from the Central Ticket Office, or by calling 906-487-2073. Tickets for athletic events can also be ordered by calling 906-487-2073.

The Calumet Visitor Center is located at 98 5th Street in downtown Calumet. Visitors can explore 3 floors of interactive exhibits, films and museum pieces focusing not only on mining history, but the social aspect as well. The Houghton County Historical Museum, once the site of the largest copper milling operation in North America is also home to the Lake Linden & Torch Lake Railroad, the one room Traprock Valley School House, an 1887 Congregational Church building now the HCHS Heritage Center, the WPA era Leo Chaput Log Cabin and the Perl Merrill Research Center which is our archives and genealogical facility.
The Houghton County Museum is located on M-26 in the Upper Peninsula of historic Lake Linden, Michigan and offers three floors of exhibits of local Copper Country mining, logging and cultural history. Some of our outdoor exhibits include a working Calumet & Hecla Mining Co. train with a 3' gauge Porter steam engine that was used to transport various materials at their mill and smelter sites. The steam train is now used for passenger tours and interpretation of the milling operations.

The Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra launches its 43rd season celebrating composers who luxuriate in colorful palettes of sound. Experience the music of Berlioz, Mahler, and Dvorak, pioneers of Romantic orchestration: the art of imagining orchestral instruments as purveyors of color and feeling. Cellist Nathan Jasinski also joins the KSO as featured guest artist for the 3rd Annual Keweenaw Honors String Festival in a performance of Dvorak’s Cello Concerto.
