Undergraduate research allows students to pursue an area of interest under the supervision of a faculty member. Students have a considerable amount of latitude in designing and carrying out their own projects based on their interests, abilities, and skills. There are also opportunities for student researchers to receive funding for their projects, and oftentimes, undergraduate research can count for class credit. If you are interested, talk to a faculty member in the department in which you are interested.
