How to Make an Appointment Help Video
Make an Individual Appointment
One-on-One Appointments
Use the TimeSlot scheduling tool to meet with a CLC coach 1:1. We recommend making a recurring appointment, this will allow you to work with the same coach each week and build a good working relationship with your coach. We also offer one-time appointments, allowing you to meet with a coach as needed. You can make as many one-time appointments as you need. If you choose a virtual appointment, your coach will email you information about how to join via Zoom or Hangouts.
CLC Walk-In Hours
If you have quick questions and would prefer not to schedule a full 30-minute appointment, walk-in coaches will be available every hour that the CLC is open (see box on right). To take advantage of drop-in services, simply come into the Chemistry Learning Center any time we're open and tell a coach on duty that you are there with walk-in questions. Services will be rendered on a first-come first-serve basis.
Please note, during periods of high volume, it could take a while for a coach to get to you, therefore for best service, we highly recommend that you make a one-time appointment to meet with a coach at your convenience.
Resources
The CLC has copies of the solutions manual for assigned homework problems. Also for your reference, we have a library of chemistry textbooks and keep notebooks of old exams and quizzes on file. Computers are available to access Canvas and online chemistry study guides.
Weekly Review Sessions
This fall CLC coaches will be attending University Chemistry I and II and Organic
Chemistry I and holding weekly review sessions where they cover the main topics from
the week, work through some example problems and answer questions.

Organic Chemistry
The CLC provides individual appointments (one-time and recurring) in organic chemistry courses. Most of our walk-in hours are staffed by coaches that can help with Organic Chemistry.
Groups
If you have 3-5 students in a course who would like to work regularly with a coach, please email the Susan in the CLC at slliebau@mtu.edu to identify a time that might work.
Learning Center Coaches
CLC coaches are undergraduate students, from a wide range of majors, who have experience with the content in the chemistry course on which they provide coaching. Our coaches have a thorough understanding of the course material and a desire to help first-year students adjust to college.
The friendships that you develop with your coach and the other students in the CLC will help you to feel like you belong at Michigan Tech—which you do!
History and Purpose
The Chemistry Learning Center (CLC) was established as a resource for all Michigan Tech students enrolled in first-year and organic chemistry courses. The CLC's goals are to assist students in making the transition from high school to college-level expectations, gaining self-confidence, and mastering chemistry concepts.
Students who participate in the CLC usually earn one-half to one full letter grade higher than students who don't. Whether you struggle with chemistry or just need help with a question or two, you are invited to visit us.
There is no cost for any of the services provided - so we encourage you to take advantage of them.
