Reminders

Change in Procedure for Training Temporary Employees

At Michigan Tech, it is everyone’s responsibility to create a welcoming environment and harassment-free campus. In addition, employees are often role models for students to learn appropriate professional habits, so it is essential to understand these issues and maintain professional standards of conduct. For short-term/casual/seasonal (temporary) employees, this is their responsibility too.

Equal Opportunity Compliance (formerly known as Institutional Equity) previously required an online training course for short-term/casual/seasonal (temporary) employees. Going forward, we will no longer require this online training and will instead send each new temporary employee an email briefly explaining the information that our office wants to share with this population. A link to the Employee Code of Conduct, which reviews University expectations in regard to employee conduct, is included in the email.

Please contact Equal Opportunity Compliance at eocompliance@mtu.edu or 906-487-3310 if you have questions, concerns, and/or require further assistance.

Advertise Your Event on the University Events Calendar

The University Events Calendar is a great place to advertise department events that are hosted or sponsored by Michigan Tech. This crowdsourced events calendar is meant for attendable events that need public advertising. It is not meant for deadlines, private events or internal events such as staff meetings. Events listed can be virtual, in-person or hybrid.

If there is someone in your department who should be in charge of adding events, you can request event admin access by emailing webcal@mtu.edu with the person's name, email address and department. Further details about adding events will then be provided.

Events from the University Events Calendar can be fed onto your department website and may also automatically appear in Tech Today on the day the event takes place. Additional tips for promoting your event can be found online.
