Biography
Kalen Larson is an assistant professor of theatre teaching courses focused in technical theatre production; backstage technology, lighting and sound technology, and production managment. His theatrical expertise is in; construction processes, management, scenic design, stage mechanics, rigging, automation, and metal working. Beyond the classroom he manages the Scene Shop and department productions as Technical Director. Prior to coming to Michigan Tech Kalen worked with various theatre and entertainment companies including PlayMakers Repertory Company (LORT) as Assistant Production Manager. Kalen also works with Studio LaPaglia, a museum fabrication company, as an exhibit technician, there he has developed, built, and installed various exhibits across the South Eastern United States. He is an active member of United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT). Kalen received his Master of Fine Arts Degree in Technical Production from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
