M.C. Friedrich is a professor of Design and Technical Theatre teaching costume, lighting, and scene design courses and costume construction/history. She also manages the costume shop. M.C. is the 2005 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Faculty Fellow in Lighting. She has worked professionally for the Spoleto Festival USA, in Charleston, South Carolina, The Boston Lyric Opera, Massachusetts, and worked in Philadelphia for The Philadelphia Company, The Freedom Theatre, and The Drama Guild. M.C. has a Master of Fine Arts degree in design and technical theatre from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree in theatre education from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She has over twenty-five years of educational and professional theatrical experience on hundreds of productions. M.C. is an active member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology participating in poster sessions and panel discussions and is the current chair of the Costume Commission Poster Session. She has conducted workshops and participated in panels on theatrical lighting and color science at international conferences. M.C. is in her third year as Co-Vice Chair of Design, Technologies, and Management for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival – Region III.
