The VPR Office is sponsoring an Export Controls/Foreign National Seminar on Monday, October 26, 2009.
This seminar will consist of an export awareness training program in which the attendees will learn the basics of U.S. export controls and how these laws and regulations may impact the daily activities of each attendee. These sessions are designed to provide the attendee with sufficient knowledge to understand when an export compliance issue is present so that the University's export compliance staff can be notified and assist in assuring that the activity or transaction may proceed under proper authorization.
The presenters at this session include Terry Murphy, the Chairman of MK Technology, and Kay Morrell, the Managing Partner and Counsel at MK Technology.
Founded in 1986, MK Technology is a leading global trade consultancy in export-controls including provisions of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), economic sanctions, and related matters.
MK Technology's staff includes professionals with extensive Government and private sector expertise in export controls and enforcement, including former senior export control and enforcement officials of the U.S. Departments of State, Commerce, Defense, Homeland Security and Treasury; former Congressional staffers; and senior level export compliance managers from leading defense and high technology firms.
Mr. Murphy has an extensive background in antitrust, constitutional, corporate and regulatory law with substantial high-level experience in strategic tech transfer including dual-use and munitions exports, encryption, tech transfer in universities, and economic sanctions. His current focus is on issues dealing with tech transfer to China and India, within the academic and research communities and within North American, European, Pacific, and Middle East defense and other industries.
Mr. Morrell provides export licensing services for clients subject to the Arms Export Control Act, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations.
