Full-Text Database includes all US patents from 1976 to the present.
The Patent Full-Page Image Database (with each patent's images linked from that patent's full-text display) includes all US patents from patent X1 issued in 1790 to the present.
European Patent Office
Search for European and American Patents, able to search 60 million patents online. Also has a helpful section on searching/understanding patents in Japan, China and Korea. Special sections on grants and appeals.

The Federal Code of Regulations is available in the library as well as online. The Federal Register is updated daily Monday through Friday by 6p.m., except for federal holidays. Section 37 of the CFR deals with patents, trademarks and copyright.
