Daniell Heights Living Guide

Moving In

Contracts, Terms, and Conditions

The Michigan Tech Daniell Heights community consists of students, faculty, staff, and their families.

Daniell Heights contracts are legally binding documents made between you and the University. By signing your housing contract, you agree to its terms. Once you have signed, you may not be released from your obligation without permission. Therefore, it is in your best interest to know what you have signed.

Keys

When you move in, you will receive all of the keys for your apartment. Keep your keys in a safe place.

If you lose a key, you may request a new key from Housing and Residential Life. There is a $55 fee to replace the apartment door lock, $55 fee to replace the storage lock, $10 fee for lost mailbox key, and $5 fee per door key.

Utilities

As a Daniell Heights resident, you enjoy the most affordable and best maintained apartments in Houghton. To help you keep within your budget, all utilities (including heat, water, sewer, electricity, cable, internet, and trash removal) are included in your rent. We also furnish a number of cost free services, as does the Apartments Residents Council (ARC).

Your Address

You will want to put your name on your mailbox as soon as possible. The Post Office will not deliver your mail if your name is not on it. Only contract holders and cotenants may be listed on the mailbox.

Your mailing address should follow the proper format:
                Your Name
Your Apartment Number and Letter, Woodmar Drive
                Houghton, MI 49931
Note that the address includes both your building number and apartment letter (as in “1885A”). Please do not use “Michigan Technological University” or “Michigan Tech Apartments” in your mailing address; it will slow delivery of your mail.

In order to provide a cooperative living environment, Daniell Heights has expectations we ask our residents to follow. These steps have to be taken to safeguard you and your neighbors from injury or discomfort.
