Liz had unique requirements for her university of choice, and Michigan Tech fit the bill! "I was looking for a combination of Nordic skiing and engineering. Michigan Tech was the right choice when the numbers came in. I liked that I didn't have to drive to find snow."

Financial aid was a definite factor in her decision. "Michigan Tech rewarded my hard work in high school . . . "

Leaving home and investing in a college education was a big decision for Ashley. "Based on my grades, Michigan Tech gave me a lot of merit-based aid and it really helped me. I was very happy that Michigan Tech put so much faith in me."

The financial aid staff was also helpful in finding ways to make her education even more affordable, but she still . . .

Edgerton, WI

Football and forestry were both important to Matt, but so was affordability. "As an out-of-state student, Michigan Tech was very comparable to the in-state schools I was considering." Not everything was covered with financial aid, though, and Matt found a position with a forestry consulting firm that "has helped to pay bills and build my resume."

When Bret was looking at universities to attend, he knew he liked the feel of campus and the area, but financial aid was just as important in his decision to attend Michigan Tech. Due to his hard work in high school, Bret was offered several scholarships which made a four-year degree a reality. "The scholarships reduced the burden of worrying about tuition bills each semester," said Bret.

When Becky first arrived on campus, she was still unsure about her financial status but decided to attend Michigan Tech regardless. "In terms of quality and price, Michigan Tech was the best option available to me," said Becky. "When I first enrolled, price was a big factor. Now with my financial aid and work-study position, I can just enjoy my experience and not have to think about the money any longer."

Angela's excellent grades in high school qualified her for Michigan Tech's Leading Scholar's program. "I remember getting my invitation to the Leading Scholar's program and I was ecstatic!" Because the Leading Scholars Program paid for a large portion of her college tuition and room and board, financial aid was definitely the reason Angela chose Michigan Tech. "I have confidence that my aid will always be taken care of and I don't need . . . "

Steven had made some great connections, visited campus, and met some great students from Michigan Tech, but still wasn't sure if he could afford to attend.
