Sign Up for Spring Semester Library Sessions

Are you prepping your syllabus and course calendar for the upcoming semester? Ask us to arrange a course integrated library session or develop materials for your students. When you reach out to set up a session, a librarian will work with you to design a session customized to help your students complete assignments and and develop critical information literacy skills.

Not sure if a library session is right for you? Here are some of the wide range of topics we can explore:

  • Finding, citing and evaluating peer-reviewed research for a paper
  • Accessing and using disciplinary sources (technical standards, patents, multimedia, datasets)
  • Scoping an information need
  • Using information ethically
  • Searching careers, industries and employers (collaboration with Career Services)

If you are interested in scheduling a library session or talking with a librarian about possible instruction support, fill out our Request Library or Archives Instruction Form today.

We are so excited to work with you this spring!

Jack Works, Blake Pietila, Chase Pietila Sweep CCHA Weekly Awards

Three Michigan Tech hockey players are CCHA Players of the Week.

Jack Works is the CCHA Offensive Player of the Week, Blake Pietila is the CCHA Goaltender of the Week, and Chase Pietila is the CCHA Defenseman and Rookie of the Week.

Works was named the MVP of the 57th Great Lakes Invitational after netting a hat trick in the championship game against No. 7 Michigan State.

Blake Pietila was named to the GLI All-Tournament Team after backstopping the Huskies to their 12th title. The fifth-year goaltender made a career-high 54 saves in the championship game and then stopped all three tries in the shootout by the Spartans.

Chase Pietila was named to the GLI All-Tournament Team after registering three assists in the tournament: the first on the third-period game-tying goal against Alaska in the semifinal, the second on the semifinal overtime game-winner, and the third on the game-tying goal in the championship game.

GLI Champs! Hockey Earns Shootout Win in Championship Game

Michigan Tech hockey won the 57th Great Lakes Invitational (GLI) with a 3-3 tie and shootout win over No. 7 Michigan State last Friday (Dec. 29) at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Tournament MVP Jack Works had a hat trick and All-Tournament Team goaltender Blake Pietila stopped a career-high 54 shots.

"Very proud of our guys," Tech coach Joe Shawhan said. "We battled and got a great goaltending performance. We had a lot of guys step up, especially Worksy with the hat trick."

The Huskies advanced to the championship game with a comeback win last Thursday (Dec. 28) in their GLI semifinal. Tech overcame a two-goal third-period deficit and defeated Alaska 3-2 in overtime. Ryland Mosley scored the first two goals and Logan Pietila scored the game-winner.

"Very proud of the way we played the game without some key members of our team," Shawhan said. "We got better as the game went on. We got some really key plays at critical times from our leaders, and we got good goaltending."

Nordic Ski Trio Makes CCSA Podium at US Nationals

The Michigan Tech Nordic ski team completed day one of the U.S. Cross Country Ski Nationals Championships in Midway, Utah, with three podium finishes among the CCSA race held Tuesday (Jan. 2): Skylar Patten won the men's race, followed by Wes Campbell in second; and Anabel Needham placed third in the women's race.

"Today counted for both CCSA and NCAA qualifiers, and the highlight of the day was Skylar Patten taking the win for CCSA in the men's race — his first classic race win for CCSA, which was an awesome thing for him to celebrate," head coach Tom Monahan Smith said. "Wes Campbell also made the podium with a second-place finish — so it was great to have two Huskies on the podium, especially in classic distance, which hasn't traditionally been our strong suit. On the women's side, Anabel Needham for the third CCSA podium. At large, it was not our strongest day, but we have three more races to come and I believe we're just going to get better each race."

The Huskies will continue U.S. Nationals with the Skate Sprint today (Jan. 4) and the Skate Mass Start (20km Sr/10km Jr) tomorrow (Jan. 5), then conclude the event with the Classic Sprint on Sunday (Jan. 7).
