Michigan Tech and Cummins Sign Corporate Fellowship Agreement

Global power solutions leader Cummins Inc. is the latest corporate partner in Michigan Technological University's Corporate Education Fellowship Program.

The Michigan Tech Global Campus team and a cohort of esteemed Michigan Tech professors, program directors and leaders traveled to Columbus, Indiana, on May 9, spending a very full day at Cummins’ corporate headquarters. While there, they toured the impressive facilities, attended a signing ceremony for the Corporate Education Fellowship Program and took in an alumni gathering.

OCI Director Achieves Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt

The Office of Continuous Improvement (OCI) is pleased to announce that its director, Ruth Archer, has successfully completed her Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification. This achievement represents the highest level of expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodology and further enhances Archer's recognized leadership in Lean Higher Education.

“This certification strengthens our efforts to support Michigan Tech’s continuous improvement culture,” said Archer. “It expands our ability to equip faculty, staff, and students with advanced problem-solving skills that create exceptional value across all University operations.”

Michigan Tech has been transforming its operations through the use of Lean processes, methods and tools for over 15 years. OCI supports the University’s performance in safety, operational delivery, financial position, quality, and experience and engagement.

Summer 2025 DeVlieg Foundation Fellow: Carl Greene

Please join the Graduate School in congratulating Michigan Tech's Summer 2025 DeVlieg Foundation Fellows.

Carl Greene is a Ph.D. candidate in electrical engineering from the College of Engineering at Michigan Tech. He came to Michigan Tech as a nontraditional graduate student, having completed his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. After working in the battery, manufacturing and electronics industries, he had a desire to participate in meaningful research; therefore, he decided to pursue a graduate degree.

Accepting and Documenting Gifts-In-Kind

When a Michigan Tech unit receives non-cash gifts, such as property, materials or supplies, it is important that gift-in-kind (GIK) procedures and guidelines are followed to ensure stewardship for continued generosity, to properly record and tag University property, and to meet requirements established by the IRS and University policy.

Gifts from Individuals
For gifts from individuals, complete the Gifts-In-Kind from Individuals Acceptance Form PDF and submit to techfund@mtu.edu.

Gifts from Companies
Prior to requesting or accepting offers of corporate gifts-in-kind, please email gift-admin@mtu.edu to ensure the gift is able to be accepted. You will then complete the Corporate Gift-In-Kind Acceptance Form PDF* and submit to techfund@mtu.edu. Please refer to the Corporate Gift-In-Kind Guidelines PDF.

In one afternoon, you can learn everything you need to be successful and complete your degree in a timely fashion! Faculty and staff who assist students with submissions are also welcome to attend.
