The Copper Country Limited

Copper Country Limited
The first time I rode on, or even heard of, “The Copper Country Limited” was the trip to Milwaukee, although I had several more trips on this train to and from Milwaukee or Chicago.
Before attending Tech in the early 1960′s I boarded The Copper Country Limited in Iron Mountain, MI bound for Milwaukee for our pre-induction physical into the military. The Copper Country Limited arrived in Iron Mountain at 10:30 PM from the Copper Country and the already passengers were “asleep” in the Sleeper Cars. Several cars were assigned to the pre-military passengers, we, the early twenty year olds. There were several hundred of us on board. During that time frame we would be inducted, “drafted,” into the military after receiving the letter from the U.S. Government with the salutation “GREETINGS.”
