Two Generations of Tech

MAILBAG Legacy Dad grad photo

Here is a picture of my father, Ernesto B. Ferrer, and I in front of Koenig Hall at his graduation. He graduated with a B.S. In Chemistry in 1949 and went on to get his Masters in Chemistry in 1951. He spent his entire career with the Upjohn Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

I enrolled at Michigan College of Mining and Technology in 1962 as a Math major. I was able to graduate from Michigan Technological University in 1966 with a BA in Liberal Arts. I believe I was in one of the first Liberal Arts graduate classes. I loved my four years at Tech.

Although I never completed course work in the field, I managed to carve out a career in accounting and finance with the State of Michigan, General Mills, Inc, and several organizations in the Kalamazoo non-profit sector. I was the Director of Finance at the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra when I retired in 2009. I always valued my Tech degree and was proud to follow my father as an alumnus.
