It may not be the Mighty Mac, but the Portage Lake Lift Bridge is a feature of life here in the Keweenaw. After decades of service, the bridge will be getting a thorough makeover—starting this weekend with an overnight closure.

That got us thinking of our favorite bridge memories: the bridge going up in the morning just when we’re late for class, watching the Ranger cruise in to dock, and the bridge’s towers lit up by fireworks during Bridgefest.
