Rumpelstiltskin

The Michigan Tech Theatre Company presents the musical "Rumpelstiltskin," with words by Moses Goldberg and music by Lisa Palas in the final performances of this year's theatre season. Featuring music adapted and arranged with a Hip Hop beat by Michigan Tech's Kyle VanHowe, the show is full of the energy and savvy which have won several awards recently for Michigan Tech's theatre program from the American College Theatre Festival.

This is director Patricia Helsel's second Rozsa musical in two years. "The Robber Bridegroom" last spring wowed audiences with show-stopping music, innovative sets, and outstanding performances. With sets, costumes, and lights designed this time by M.C. Friedrich and sound design by VanHowe, "Rumpelstiltskin" showcases the best of the current generation of Michigan Tech theatre.

Adapted from the classic fairytale, the musical presents characters in a modern setting as they use every ounce of energy and wit to outsmart one another. The cast includes MTU student actors Cassi Warsinski, Adam Sommerfield, Ryan Huntington, Chip Rohrer, Jacob Augsburger, and Mike McKellar, plus four young community actors: Rachel Holzberger, Lila Kumpula, Emma Sarazin, and Isabel Valencia.
