Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology

Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology at Michigan Tech provides hands-on engineering education that bridges the theoretical world of the engineer with the practice approach of the skilled workforce. Work alongside faculty with broad industry expertise in product design, manufacturing, logistics, quality systems, and beyond. With an emphasis on lab experience, you’ll receive extensive training with a variety of tools, machines, and systems in order to be successful in the field.

  • Utilize the latest industry-standard technology in the 3,200-square-foot machine shop, including laser scanning and advanced 3D printing. 
  • Expand your knowledge with the department’s seven additive manufacturing technologies, including polymers and metals.
  • Participate in undergraduate research with world-renowned faculty.
  • Develop real solutions working on an industry-sponsored Senior Design capstone project.
  • Join an Enterprise team such as Advanced Metalworks or Advanced Motorsports.
  • Specialize with a minor in manufacturing systems.
