Why did you choose Michigan Tech? I wanted to study engineering and Michigan Tech was and still is the best University in Michigan to attend for an engineering degree. Tell us about a memorable experience you had with a class or about a favorite professor One of my favorite classes was taught by Dr. Kahn [back in the 70's] on machining. Bill Hartwick graduated with honor in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. While a student at Michigan Tech he was elected a member of Tau Beta Pi and played varsity football. After completing the required thesis, Bill received a professional degree of Mechanical Engineer from Tech in 1955. His entire professional career was devoted to the technology of heavy, continuous duty, reciprocating . . .

Mary received her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences in 1983, a second bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1991, and a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1993. Following her "First" graduation, Mary worked as a high school math teacher in Stephenson, MI and then as a computer science teacher at Menominee High School.
