Welcome to Michigan Technological University!
Congratulations on your admission! The staff of the International Programs and Services (IPS) Office looks forward to welcoming you to our campus community and are committed to assisting you with your arrival needs. Our goal is to ensure a smooth academic and cultural transition to your new life in the United States.
To help us plan for your arrival and confirm your place at the university, please do the following:
1. Pay the $100 enrollment deposit online. Students must pay this fee to secure course registration and housing. NOTE: Enrollment deposit not required for graduate students or reciprocal exchange students.
2. Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee online. You may not schedule your visa interview until this fee is paid. Visa appointments are filling up quickly, so this must be done as soon as possible. If you are currently in the United States on another institution's I-20, you are required to submit a completed Transfer In Form. You will not need to pay the SEVIS fee again but will need to have a copy of the receipt to show the US Embassy if you require a new visa.
3. Arrange on-campus housing. All students who submit a signed housing contract are guaranteed housing. Housing assignments will be finalized after Michigan Tech receives confirmation that you have secured your student visa.
4. Schedule airport pick-up service. If you require a representative from Michigan Tech to meet you at the airport, please send arrival dates by going to your Husky Hub and click on Arrival Information Form. If you do not receive an email confirmation within 72 hours prior to your arrival, please send us an email at ipsarrivals@mtu.edu.
