Akalu Says . . .

Why did you choose Michigan Tech?
Tech is highly ranked for engineering and has a close relationship with industry. Also, my brother attended Tech, so it’s a family tradition.

How would you describe your experience at Tech so far?
The outdoor activities are nice, and the environment is beautiful. Also, the community is very nice.

How would you describe your participation in CDI student organizations?
Being a part of the African Student Organization allows me to meet people from different African countries, and provides a way for us to explain some of our cultural values to the Michigan Tech community.

Why do you come to CDI?
I get to meet new people at CDI, and it’s a nice place to take a break between classes. Also, if I have questions, I know I can be helped.

What would you say to a prospective student who is thinking about coming to Tech?
Buy a jacket and snowshoes! The people are friendly, and the outdoor activities are great. Also, the professors are helpful, and it’s always good to be able to get one-on-one help.
