GLBTQ History Month

GLBTQ History Month Banner

Celebrated annually during October, GLBTQ History Month highlights the historical and contemporary accomplishments of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning individuals.

GLBTQ History Month features a variety of information and programs that differ each year. Many events focus on issues and obstacles specific to GLBTQ people. Past years’ events have included:

  • guest speakers,
  • films,
  • workshops, and
  • events such as Keweenaw Pride’s celebration of National Coming Out Day, where the campus community is invited to announce their orientation or to “come out” as a GLBTQ-community ally.

GLBTQ students coordinate GLBTQ History Month events with assistance from the Center for Diversity and Inclusion.
