Staff Assistant, Center for Diversity and Inclusion
My name is Karen Wade, and I am the staff assistant in the Center for Diversity and Inclusion (CDI). Born and raised in the “big” City of Hancock, I graduated from Hancock High School with honors in 1983 and worked in banking for 25 years before coming to Michigan Tech in 2008. I married the love of my life, Ron Wade, on June 21, 1986. I am a caregiver for my family, and I enjoy volunteering at local events. My husband and I love to travel and hope to someday be “snow birds” (wintering in sunny Florida or California).
In my role as staff assistant, I will be the smiling face you see when you enter CDI. I love working with students and enjoy taking on a “mothering” role. If you need someone to talk to—or a shoulder to lean or cry on—you can count on me. I can assist you with a variety of things including setting up appointments with CDI staff, checking out CDI library resources or assisting CDI student organizations with travel or programming events. I also supervise the awesome and amazing CDI student workers and help to manage the front office.
