Biological Sciences Learning Center

The Biological Sciences Learning Center has resources to help you with your studies. If you are struggling with a biology concept—or just have a question—this is the place to go. You may make an individual appointment for help, or walk in with a specific problem. Our learning center coaches are top students in the biological sciences, and they know first hand about the courses you are taking. Coaches also hold weekly group study sessions to help you with your specific course needs.

Meet the Learning Center Coaches

Ciera

Major: Biological Sciences, Pre-Medicine, Biochemistry & Microbiology Minor
Year: Sophomore (2nd year)
Years in the BSLC: One
Future: After graduating from Tech I plan on attending medical school and becoming a physician in a rural city.
Favorite thing about Biology: I love how biology is related to everything that we do on a day to day basis.

Future: I am planning on going into either medicine or research
Favorite thing about Biology: I enjoy Biology because it explains the answers to the questions about how and why life occurs.

Future: Veterinary school at Michigan State to become a large animal veterinarian.
Favorite thing about Biology: The way that an organism functions from the chemical level up to the organ level.

Plans for the future: I hope to get into a college of Osteopathic Medicine and obtain my D.O.
Favorite thing about Biology: I love learning about different aspects of the human body from gross anatomy to microscopic cells.

The Learning Center is also a place to get together with your fellow classmates to study as a group, to use computer images to study for a practical exam, to complete specific assignments that require computers, or to take advantage of references and other resources available in the Learning Center while working on a project.

Available Resources

In addition to Learning Center coaches, we have an assortment of resources and reference materials to assist you as you study, work on projects, or practice a presentation. Available resources include:

  • sample exams;
  • notes from previous classes;
  • textbooks;
  • models;
  • microscopes and slides;
  • a data projector;
  • a document camera; and
  • computers and digital study materials.
