Biology Learning Center

The Biological Sciences Learning Center has resources to help you with your studies. If you are struggling with a biology concept—or just have a question—this is the place to go. You may make an individual appointment for help, or walk in with a specific problem. Our learning center coaches are top students in the biological sciences, and they know first hand about the courses you are taking. Coaches also hold weekly group study sessions to help you with your specific course needs.

Meet the Learning Center Coaches

Caycie Bray

Major: Exercise Science and Biological Sciences minor
Year: Fourth
Years in the BLC: Three
Plans for the Future: After I graduate I plan to attend grad school at Michigan Tech. After that I hope to work in the health and wellness field doing exercise/nutrition counseling.
Favorite thing about Biology: Being able to apply everything I learn about the human body to my own health and understanding the truly complex systems inside of us that keep us healthy.

Plans for the future: To attend medical school in the hopes of becoming a pediatrician
Favorite thing about Biology: It explains the things you experience in yourself and the world around you, and I think that's pretty cool.

Plans for the future: To pursue a dual master's degree in nursing and public health
Favorite thing about Biology: Anatomy and Physiology; I love learning about the human body and how it works, and this class is a great way to do it!

Plans for the future: Go to medical school after earning my degree at Michigan Tech with aspirations to become a doctor of Oncology.

Plans for the future: I will be attending graduate school at Saint Catherine University to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Favorite thing about Biology: My favorite subjects to learn about in biology are Anatomy & Physiology and Biochemistry. I enjoy learning about all of the interactions that occur within the human body.

Favorite thing about Biology: I love learning about the human body, particularly the immune system and how we fight off invaders.

Plans for the future: I'm hoping to go to medical school after I graduate.
Favorite thing about Biology: Learning about dinosaurs, because it's so crazy to me how different the world was just a mere few million years ago.

The Learning Center is also a place to get together with your fellow classmates to study as a group, to use computer images to study for a practical exam, to complete specific assignments that require computers, or to take advantage of references and other resources available in the Learning Center while working on a project.

In addition to Learning Center coaches, we have an assortment of resources and reference materials to assist you as you study, work on projects, or practice a presentation. Available resources include:

  • sample exams;
  • notes from previous classes;
  • textbooks;
  • models;
  • microscopes and slides;
  • a data projector;
  • a document camera; and
  • computers and digital study materials.
