Leadership Update, Welcome Back Picnic Planned Sept. 9

Editor's Note: The University Update and Welcome Back Picnic have been rescheduled for Sept. 16. Times and locations remain the same.

To celebrate last year's accomplishments and welcome you back to campus, faculty and staff are invited to a leadership update Sept. 9 at noon in the Rozsa lobby, followed by a barbecue picnic on Walker Lawn. Release time will be provided for employees to attend.

The barbecue menu includes: hamburgers, brats, veggie burgers, coleslaw, baked mac and cheese, chips, brownies, water and lemonade. For planning purposes, please RSVP to the picnic by Sept. 2.

We hope to see you there and wish you a great start to the new academic year.

Now Available: GLAS Fall 2022 Appointment Schedule

Graduate Language Assessment and Support (GLAS) is a free program designed for international graduate students who wish to improve their English speaking and listening skills.

Through one-on-one and small-group conversations that matter, students gain experience participating in class discussions, responding to questions and listening effectively. GLAS coaches work with students to help them better understand U.S. university expectations and gain insight into what students and instructors expect from each other in the classroom. GLAS students who are already teaching can practice lectures or lab presentations with their coach.

All international graduate students are welcome to participate in the program.

The GLAS Fall 2022 appointment schedule is now available! Visit our webpage to schedule an appointment.

Army ROTC Orientation BBQ

Michigan Tech Army ROTC cadets are hosting their annual Husky Orientation Week BBQ from noon to 3 p.m. today (Aug. 24) on the lawn in front of the ROTC Building. All new and returning students are welcome to attend and enjoy the free food, challenge the cadets in some volleyball and maneuver a Michigan National Guard reconnaissance robot. Army cadets from most MTU majors will be present to discuss their experience in ROTC and answer any questions you might have about participation in the military science program.

Army ROTC Scholarships Available
Two-year and three-year full-tuition scholarships are available for students who meet eligibility requirements. Additionally, ask about our new Arctic Warrior Scholarship, which can offer up to $10,000 in financial assistance toward tuition or room and board at Tech.

Join for Two Years, No Commitment Needed
Participating in ROTC/military science as a first-year or second-year student requires no commitment. If you enjoy it and think you have what it takes to "Be All You Can Be" as an Army officer, and you meet the standards, then contracting occurs your junior year. A contract is for a term of service of three to four years either on active duty or in the National Guard or Army Reserves following college.

Come get to know the Arctic Warrior Cadets and join the No. 1 leadership development organization on campus.
