Pack Together for Homecoming 2025: 'Where the Wild Huskies Are'

Join Michigan Tech's Homecoming tradition! This year's theme is “Where the Wild Huskies Are” and you don't want to miss three exciting events yet to come:

  • Lip Sync Battle
    Thursday, Sept. 18, from 7-10 p.m.
Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts
Come witness the campus come alive in a spectacle of performance art sans actual singing. Student teams deliver outrageous choreography, wild costumes and playful theatrics — no vocals, just energy, creativity and sheer Husky pride. It’s a high-spirited show that’s free and guaranteed to reignite your school-day enthusiasm.

  • Cardboard Boat Races
    Friday, Sept. 19, from 3-6:30 p.m.
    Boat Lineup: 3 p.m. | Races Begin: 4 p.m. (with festivities after!)
Chassell Centennial Park (shuttles from MUB and SDC from 3-6 p.m.)
This annual favorite brings out serious ingenuity — and playful rivalry — on the water. Student teams design and race homemade cardboard boats across the waves. With creativity and craftsmanship on full display, spectators cheer on wild creations. Some float, many sink, but all entertain! It’s a true Tech tradition of fun and community.

  • Football Game and Royalty Crowning
    Saturday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m.
    Kearly Stadium (Sherman Field)
Cap off Homecoming weekend by cheering on the Huskies as they take on Upper Iowa. At halftime, experience a beloved tradition: the crowning of Homecoming Royalty and announcement of the cardboard boat winners. It’s a moment of nostalgia, pride and shared Husky Spirit — just the kind of tradition that brings our community together.

Why Your Presence Makes a Difference
Homecoming is more than a weekend — it’s a return to where lifelong bonds began, and where Tech’s traditions remain timeless. It’s also a chance to see the next generation in action, innovating and leading with Husky Spirit.

Get Involved and Stay Connected

Fall MTU Aquatics: Registration for Session 2 Programs Opening Soon

Mark your calendar! Registration for Session 2 of Fall 2025 MTU Aquatics programs opens next Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 8 a.m.!

Explore our programs for all ages and abilities:

We’re excited to announce that beginning with fall 2025 program registration, we will be transitioning to a new recreation program registration system designed to better support our youth and family programming. As part of this upgrade, there is an important change to how you will register your child for youth programs.

Important Information for Parents/Guardians:
To register your child for aquatics programs this coming fall, you’ll need to:

  1. Create your account.
Note: Due to system constraints, only current students, faculty and staff may use an MTU email. All others must use or create a different email address to create an account.
  2. Add your children as your affiliates (with their date of birth).
  3. Register your child through their affiliate profile (profile options in top right corner), not your own, for any program with an age requirement (this ensures accurate participant info and correct age group placement).

Create your accounts early to be ready!

Thank you for your support as we make this exciting transition! We’re confident this new system will offer a more user-friendly and efficient experience for all.

Questions? Contact Aquatics Manager Annie Boyle at ambengry@mtu.edu or 906-487-2995.

Seeking MTU Faculty Participants for a Research Study

Jen Shaud, a Ph.D. student in Applied Cognitive Science and Human Factors, is seeking faculty members from all colleges at MTU to participate in a study about faculty and student perceptions about disability accommodations in higher education and whether these perceptions impact student willingness to request accommodations.

Faculty members will be asked to complete a 15-minute survey and send a link to a student survey to all students in the classes that they currently teach.

The student survey will include questions for students with disabilities that ask them to share whether their perceptions about their accommodations, their perception of their classmates' attitudes about accommodations, and their perception of your feelings about accommodations contributed to their willingness to request accommodations.

This study may impact the best practices for faculty and student disability services at the beginning of each semester. It will take place during late September and October 2025.

Please complete the Perceptions Study Interest Form to indicate your willingness to participate.
