CareerFEST Automotive Day is Tomorrow
Michigan Tech’s CareerFEST kicks of this week with Automotive Day, the first in a series of Industry Day events and activities.
Automotive Day is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 1), with most activities taking place in the CareerFEST tent on campus.
Leaders in the automotive industry will be on campus to show-and-tell students about their companies and employment opportunities.
Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Hands-on exhibits include live engine calibration, an engine tear down, steering system testing by driving a go-cart and other interactive hands-on exhibits.
Among the companies participating are Ford Motor Company, ArcelorMittal, General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Cooper Standard, Nexteer Automotive, Oskosh Corporation, Harman, Yanfeng, Faurecia and Cummins.
Thursday's event marks the second time CareerFEST has featured Automotive Day. Shelly Farrey, coordinator-career development and corporate events in career services says the event has grown considerably from year one to year two.
"We are very excited that Automotive Day is returning for its second year on campus. This year features the return of all eight companies from a year ago plus the addition of three new companies joining us this year," Farrey says.
Other Industry Days coming up in September include Aerospace Day (Sept. 7), Construction and Building Systems Day (Sept. 8), Robotics and Controls Day (Sept. 14), Energy Day (Sept. 16), PCA Career Day (Sept. 23), Business Career Day (Sept. 19) and Steel Day (Sept. 21).
CareerFEST events all lead up to the semi-annual Career Fair, Tuesday, Sept. 27. As of yesterday, 300 companies have signed up to participate in Career Fair so far.
