Welcome to the Transportation Services web page! Transportation Services is responsible for parking and vehicle registration for the entire University Community. The Transportation Services office is conveniently located in the Administration Building Room 100 and is open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Learn about the Guiding Principles here.
Vehicle Registration
Vehicle registration for students, faculty and staff is managed by Transportation Services. In order to park in University lots (not including any pay lots or meters), a valid parking permit decal or visitor permit must be displayed in your vehicle. Visitor, contractor, vendor and service vehicles must be registered at Transportation Services.
Zipcar
Need a car? Borrow a Zipcar! Michigan Tech has partnered with Zipcar to bring self-service, on-demand car sharing to the area. To use Zipcars, simply register as a member, reserve a car online or by phone, use your Zipcard to enter the car, and drive away. When you’re done, return the car to the same location where you picked it up.
As a member you get:
• Access to Zipcars 24/7.
• Discounted hourly rates for faculty, staff and students age 18 and older: rates start at just $7.50/hour or $69/day.
• Gas, insurance and maintenance are included for free!
• Join for only $25 a year, and receive $35 in driving credit your first month.

CashKeys
New CashKey meters will be located along College Avenue by mid-September. CashKeys allow parking in metered spaces for up to 8 hours at a rate of seventy five cents per hour ($.75/hour). CashKeys will be able to be purchased at the Transportation Services office in amounts of $25, $50, and $100. CashKeys may only be used in one hour increments. These new meters will still accept coin payments.
Shuttle Service
Transportation Services is running a free van shuttle service between the SDC, Daniell Heights and the Memorial Union every 16 minutes on weekdays from 7:00am to 10:00am, 11:30 am to 2:00pm and from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. We will adjust the schedule after a few weeks of service based on customer responses. Please check back frequently for any schedule adjustments.
Please note: The Shuttle service operates on all MTU business days (Monday thru Friday) EXCEPT for any days when the University is closed due to inclement weather.
