Staff Mentoring Program

Mentoring is all about learning

The WorkLife mentoring program strengthens the university community through knowledge sharing, leadership development and fostering healthy work partnerships among staff members. The program provides an opportunity for seasoned employees to share their knowledge and experience with new and existing staff. New staff gains knowledge from the coaching, guidance and encouragement from their mentors. Mentoring programs can help eliminate obstacles and difficulties new employees might encounter. Employees who have mentors are more likely to have greater job satisfaction. Mentoring is also a critical component in the retention and success of new employees. A mentor can help an employee to transition to a new position and survive in an unfamiliar environment. The staff mentoring program helps the University to build a stronger, more cohesive and collaborative community. Mentoring is a valuable tool which can be used to build an effective and diverse organization as it assists to ensure that all employees are equally given the opportunity to succeed.
