Biography

Travis Pierce has been the adjunct instructor of tuba since 2010 and played with the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra from 2004-2009. He has appeared on the tuba as a member of multiple bands, orchestras, and quintets in the midwest. In his early years, Pierce could be found playing the bass trombone in jazz ensembles. He has performed with Kim Richmond, Clay Jenkins, Van Cliburn, the Canadian Brass, and Alan Parsons. Born in Iowa, Pierce studied tuba at the University of Iowa with Robert Yeats and bass trombone with Donn Schaefer. He holds a bachelor of music from the University of Iowa and a master of public administration from Drake University.
