H-STEM Construction Update

H-STEM Complex construction is proceeding on schedule and the form of the building is taking shape. The steel erection will be completed next week, and the temporary winter enclosure installation will be starting next week. This will allow the building “skin” to be constructed over the winter, starting in early December. Also in early December, the concrete floors will be poured, which will finalize the concrete work. The progress over the next month will be exciting!

Remember to keep checking in on the project webcam, and check the project webpage for additional information.

Please take care as you walk past the construction site, as these can be dangerous areas if you are not attentive.

Thanks for your patience as we work hard to bring this project to fruition, and Happy Thanksgiving from the Facilities Management staff!

Women's Basketball Handles Concordia St. Paul, Heads to Minnesota Next

Michigan Tech women's basketball has won three straight to start their 2022-23 season, and will travel to Minnesota for a pair of road games next.

The Huskies' most recent win was a 64-54 victory over Concordia St. Paul in nonconference basketball Tuesday (Nov. 15) at SDC Gymnasium. Alex Rondorf notched a double-double in the match with 19 points and 13 rebounds, shooting 7-for-13 from the field and adding two assists and two steals.

"Overall, I thought we played really hard," said head coach Sam Clayton. "We defended really hard and took away most of their tendencies. It was good to see us take a step forward defensively, which I felt we needed to improve from Saturday's game. I thought Alex had an awesome day creating for us in multiple ways. It's the way she cuts and screens and rebounds for us that really make her a great player."

The Huskies shot 38% (22-58) overall, including 30% from beyond the arc (8-27). Katelyn Meister made it to double figures, scoring 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting with a pair of steals and a pair of blocks. Tech also committed 14 turnovers compared to 17 by the Golden Bears.

The Huskies' next games will be on the road: they'll play Southwest Minnesota State today (Nov. 17) at 7 p.m., then Minnesota-Crookston on Saturday (Nov. 19) at 2 p.m. Both games will be on Mix 93.5 FM WKMJ and Pasty.net.
