Faculty and Staff Volunteers Needed for Move-In Weekend

The energy of campus elevates when we welcome our new students and their families to campus each year. We invite faculty and staff to join us for the 16th year of the Move-In Volunteers initiative. We need you to help welcome our new students to campus. Move a couple of crates, give directions or be a friendly face for incoming Huskies and their families.

Volunteer shifts for faculty, staff and students are available Aug. 19 and Aug. 20. Please register by Aug. 12 to volunteer. You can choose to be a move-in helper or greeter, or provide traffic flow support. If you have the availability, feel free to volunteer for more than one shift.

You will also be asked to provide your contact information and T-shirt size. In keeping with the University's sustainability efforts, we will have a similar Welcome Crew shirt design as in past Move-Ins, so you may wear a previous year’s shirt if you have one.

Additional information about your Move-In volunteer shift will be emailed the week of Aug. 14. If you have any questions, contact the Waino Wahtera Center for Student Success at success@mtu.edu or 906-487-3558. Thank you in advance for supporting our new students!

Job Applicants Must Apply at MTU Employment Website

When departments advertise open positions, some external websites allow applicants to submit application materials directly via that website. However, all Michigan Tech employment applications must be submitted through Human Resources' Michigan Tech Employment website.

When you post to external websites that permit application submission, you should include wording directly in your posting that states:

“Application materials submitted through this website will not be reviewed. You must apply on Michigan Tech's employment website to be considered for the position. Submit your application materials for this position using the following URL: [Insert the full URL for your position].”

Applications and materials received through any website other than the Michigan Tech Employment website cannot be reviewed, as those websites do not meet all of the obligations that we must follow as a federal contractor. In order to remain in compliance with the regulations, the University can only accept and review applications submitted via our employment website.

If applicants submit application materials via the website that you are using for advertising, you may contact the applicants and tell them their materials will not be reviewed unless submitted via the Michigan Tech Employment website. If you choose to contact the applicants, you must contact all of the applicants; otherwise, none of the applicants can be contacted.

Also, if your department has been receiving and reviewing applications through a website other than the Michigan Tech Employment website, please email Equal Opportunity Compliance and Title IX at eocompliance@mtu.edu so we can remedy the situation and ensure compliance with the federal regulations moving forward.

Please contact Equal Opportunity Compliance and Title IX at eocompliance@mtu.edu or 906-487-3310 with questions.

The talk will be presented from 7-9 p.m. Thursday (July 14) at the Eagle Harbor Community Building. Entrance is $6 for the public and $5 for KCHS members.
