CV Imports in Digital Measures: New, Faster Way to Enter Data

Digital Measures by Watermark has a new tool to make updates easier using the source you most trust, your CV. The goal of CV Imports is to substantially reduce the time it takes to enter activities and accomplishments into Digital Measures.

The capability uses highlighting technology to identify areas of your CV that tie to specific screens and fields within Digital Measures, customized to Michigan Tech’s configuration. Once the highlighting is complete, you go through an easy series of steps to review, validate and confirm the upload.

This video from Digital Measures explains the process: Select the “Review a Guide” link on the top left-hand corner of DM Activities page to find more details on how to use this capability.

It’s important to have accomplishments and activities in Digital Measures for a number of reasons. At Michigan Tech, Digital Measures tracks information for promotion, tenure and reviews as well as accreditation and unit metrics. Sharing your accomplishments and activities is key to both your and our University’s success.

If you have questions or would like assistance getting started with CV Imports, please email dm-admin@mtu.edu.

MTRAC Informational Seminar

For several years, Michigan Tech has partnered with the State of Michigan and other stakeholders to create an entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem. Members of the community at large can participate in this process at an event on the Michigan Tech campus.

Michigan Tech hosts one of five hubs that make up the Michigan Translational and Research Commercialization (MTRAC), funded by the state’s Michigan 21st Century Jobs fund through the Michigan Strategic Fund. MTRAC-supported projects have secured more than $315 million in follow-on funding.

Join us at noon on September 10, 2021 in GLRC 202 to hear directly from the program directors of each hub to learn about program requirements and what makes for a competitive proposal. Directors will have a few appointments on a first come, first serve availability following the seminar for one-on-one meetings with prospective principal investigators.

MTRAC provides matching funds for researchers to accelerate the transfer of new technologies from universities, hospital systems, and nonprofit research centers into the commercial market. Funding is available under any of the five statewide hub programs organized around the following technology areas:

  • Ag Bio Innovation Hub (managed by Michigan State University)
  • Life Sciences Innovation Hub (managed by the University of Michigan)
  • Advanced Transportation Innovation Hub (managed by University of Michigan)
  • Advanced Materials Innovation Hub (managed by Michigan Tech)
  • Advanced Computing Innovation Hub (managed by Wayne State University)

Prospective entrepreneurs will learn about moving technology from lab to market. Program objectives, goals and scope will be discussed by representatives from the five MTRAC hubs and representatives from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).

Please RSVP to the event.

HUSKIES SEASON PREVIEW

After a 647-day hiatus, Michigan Tech football returns September 4. The Huskies graduated 18 seniors from their 2019 squad, which finished 5-5 overall. Another 16 student-athletes received their degrees in 2020, but several key starters remain. All-American nose tackle Nate Lajoie (Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan) led the GLIAC in total sacks with 8.5 and tied for second in the conference in tackles for loss. A first-team All-GLIAC honoree and D2CCA All-Super Region 3 First Team pick, Lajoie will be a senior with 21 games of varsity experience to draw upon.

Steve Olson begins his fifth year as head coach with a 13-18 overall record. The Huskies have two GLIAC Championships (2004, 2012) and two NCAA Tournament appearances (2004, 2014) in their 97-year history. Michigan Tech has also won the Miner's Cup 10 seasons in a row, awarded in the Michigan Tech/Northern Michigan rivalry.

Reminders

Get Vaccinated, Continue Washing and Sanitizing Hands

To best ensure the continuity of campus operations, Michigan Tech strongly recommends that all employees and students receive the COVID-19 vaccine, especially in light of the virulence of the COVID-19 delta variant.

With all of this in mind and out of an abundance of caution, Michigan Tech will return to Health and Safety Level Two as outlined in our MTU Flex plan, effective August 15, 2021, for at least five weeks. This includes reinstating an indoor face covering requirement for all faculty, staff, students, and visitors (regardless of vaccination status).

While Michigan Tech is at Health and Safety Level One, face coverings and daily symptom monitoring are not required. However, those who wish to continue wearing a face covering are encouraged to do so.

The MTU Flex Task Force also encourages University community members to get their vaccinations and continue with handwashing and hand-sanitizing practices.
