Stay Active to Reduce COVID-19 Severity

Isaac Wedig (KIP), doctoral student in Integrative Physiology, has published a post on the American Physiological Society’s blog I Spy Physiology.

The article, titled "Update: Stay Active to Reduce COVID-19 Severity,” highlights the important role that physical activity plays in combating COVID-19.

Scientific research now suggests that regular exercise can significantly reduce the risk of having a severe case of COVID-19 if you’re infected with the virus.

Wedig and Elmer also discussed this topic further on the most recent episode of the Portage Health Foundation Podcast, which highlighted UP and Moving, which provides free live and recorded home-based workouts with the goal is to keep adults in the Upper Peninsula physically active and healthy during the pandemic and beyond.
