Mail Services Resuming Normal Operations

Effective June 14, Mail Services will resume mail delivery to campus departments using the traditional mail pickup and delivery schedule. Given changes in staffing, as well as planned vacation or unexpected absences, there will be occasional days when mail delivery will not be available. We encourage each department to have key staff members join the Mail Services Updates email list to receive notifications when these infrequent disruptions occur.

Departments are welcome to pick up and drop off mail. During summer hours, the service window on the garden level of the Administration Building is open and staffed from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30-3:30 p.m. Mail Services staff are available to assist with mail, shipping (UPS and FedEx) and bulk mailing. Contact us at mail-services-l@mtu.edu or 906-487-2348 with questions.

UP Health Science and Medicine Lecture Series

Join us at 7 p.m. on June 21 for the next UP Health Science and Medicine Lecture Series: "Exercise is Medicine: Merging Fitness with Healthcare During COVID-19 and Beyond."

The lecture will be delivered virtually by Dr. Robert Sallis, a world-renowned family and sports medicine physician from the Kaiser Permanente Health Care System in Southern California. His most recent work is a landmark study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine that evaluates the links between physical activity level and COVID-19 severity outcomes in 48,000 patients. The study has been highlighted in the New York Times, Forbes, CNN, CNBC and other media outlets (links are available in the Kaiser Permanente press release).

The UP Health Science and Medicine Lecture Series is supported by the Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology and the Health Research Institute at Michigan Tech. It aims to strengthen academic-clinical partnerships in the rural Upper Peninsula needed to improve health.

This series is free and open to students, staff, faculty, clinicians and community members. Preregistration is required to obtain the Zoom link.
