Parenting All Rainbow Kids

Parenting All Rainbow Kids (PARK) is a faculty/staff-led group for the parents/guardians of LGBTQIA* youth. PARK aims to offer group members a confidential, supportive community where we can learn and grow as parents/guardians together. Community members are welcome.

During the spring, meetings will be held at 10 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting is at 10 a.m. tomorrow (May 18) via Zoom. Everyone is welcome.

Jae Suh Receives National Research Foundation of Korea Fellowship

Jae Suh (Physics) has received a fellowship from the National Research Foundation of Korea under the Brain Pool Program, which will support his sabbatical leave next academic year.

During his sabbatical, Suh will work on developing quantum light-emitting devices.

John Vucetich (CFRES) was quoted in an AP News article regarding a call by 115 scientists for the federal government to reinstate federal protections for gray wolves under the Endangered Species Act. A Center for Biological Diversity press release identified Vucetich as a leading voice among the scientists. The story has been picked up by ABC News and other outlets across the U.S. and Canada.

MTU's RedTeam was mentioned by Yahoo Finance and IT News Online in stories on the current competition leaderboard for the spring season of the National Cyber League (NCL). RedTeam is in second place out of 922 teams.

Research by Joshua Pearce (MSE/ECE) into "backyard" protein sources to meet household demand was the subject of a New Food Magazine feature article.

The Daily Mining Gazette picked up a story on Michigan Tech alumni Meredith LaBeau and Audra Thurston that ran in Printed Circuit Design & Fab. The article described LaBeau and Thurston’s participation in an upcoming Women in Aerospace virtual event intended to inspire K-12 students to pursue STEM careers.

Fill Out the COVID-19 Symptom Monitoring Form Before Coming to Campus

If you are working on campus while the University is at Health Safety Level Three, remember that no one is permitted to come to campus with symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Employees are required to monitor for symptoms daily before coming to campus using the Daily Symptom Monitoring Form.

Volunteers Needed For Vaccine Clinic

Upper Great Lakes Health will be holding second-dose vaccine clinics tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday (May 18, 19 and 20) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. We are looking for volunteers to assist.

If you are interested in volunteering for one hour or several hours, please contact Brian Cadwell at bjcadwel@mtu.edu.

Please note: These clinics are intended to administer second-dose vaccinations only. All people who will be participating already have appointments and walk-ins will not be available.

We would like to make the community aware of the Campus Master Plan (CMP) website, which will be utilized for two-way communication as work progresses on the CMP.

The Campus Master Plan website is live and accessible from the campus main page or from the Facilities Management web page. Throughout the site, you will find information as it is posted by SmithGroup, our CMP consultant. You will also be able to provide comments regarding various aspects of campus on the Share Your Ideas forum.
